Lake Buhi Resort, Cabatuan, Buhi, Camarines Sur

Someone once said that to discover something wonderful, you have to get lost. That is exactly what happened to me and my family when we went to Buhi. We were supposed to go to this resort that we used to frequent every summer but got lost and ended up at the Lake Buhi Resort in Cabatuan instead.

The resort was under renovation when we went there and it was a by invitations/reservations only resort, but the owner, upon learning that we traveled all the way from Baao took pity and allowed us to stay!

The resort's main attraction is the pool which is divided into an adult pool and a kiddie pool. Day tour and use of pool is 50 pesos for kids up to four feet in height and 70 pesos for adults.

There are villas around the pool, which you can book for up to 6 thousand pesos depending on the size and the number of beds per villa. The owner says the resort can accommodate big groups of visitors and is conducive for events like workshop and company team building or wedding reception and debut. They plan to build kubos on stilts along the lake (see the bamboos jutting out at the background in the photo above? That's where they plan to build it).

Swimming in the lake is not allowed. You cannot see it in the photos but the lake has become murky and dirty over the years. I remember, when I was a kid, the lake was so cold and you can see tilapias swimming when you dive underwater. Today the lake is filled with this plant called water lilies, which they say, only grows in dirty freshwater systems:

But the flowers are beautiful! How can these be regarded as pests/weeds?

Also, the bottom of the lake has too become mucky for any swimming activity. Too much caged-fishing (fish pens) in the area has turned the once-sandy lake bed to a muddy and filthy lake bottom. How I wish the owners can still manage to restore the lake bed (or at least the part of the lake they own).

From this angle, the pool seems to extend to the lake, like an infinity pool!

No swimming in the lake!

View of the mountaintops!
