It has to be said: India has the most vibrant culture in Asia. It does not take long for one to realize how creative Indian people are. Their creativity manifests in everything they produce.
You see it at the airport, when you land:
Tile mosaics outside Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) in New Delhi |
Huge paintings hang around the baggage claim area (IGIA) |
The IGIA used
to belong to the world's worst airports but the government of India
really made effort to turn it into a modern and world-class facility. |
I love how they incorporate their heritage and culture into the structure of the airport. Without these paintings
and the mosaic, it will be just another modern, stylish airport. The paintings give it character. |
Namaste! 7 (or 8?) giants hands greet arriving/departing passengers. |
You can see it in the intricate floral decorations in every establishment or home:
Complimentary Colors! At the Narayana Hrudyalaya Hospital, Bengaluru |
ITC Hotel, Mumbai |
ITC Mughal, Agra |
Colored salt and chalk on pavement, SRM University, Tamil Nadu |

They even use flowers to adorn their hair.
Jasmine flowers (or Sampaguita in Filipino) and roses are clipped on the hair.
It can be used as an ornament (or as a perfume perhaps?).
It can be worn for two days or until the flowers turn brown and wilted. |

In the Philippines,
people use flowers to adorn altars and images of saints or the Sto.
Nino; drivers would hang them inside their jeepneys. In India, people
would hang them outside their houses or business establishments or cars.

Even their trucks are adorable |
Bright colors galore! |
To be continued ...
